Lead Respiratory Care Practitioner (NRP required), Day shift

About the role

The Lead Respiratory Care Practitioner position requires a Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credentials, specifically RRT, RCP, BLS, ACLS, and NRP. Four years of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner with two years in ICU, Neonatal, and/or ER is required, along with lead/supervisor experience.

Responsibilities

• Role models effective communication skills and collaborates with management and the interprofessional care team.
• Facilitates teamwork by coordinating department needs and responding positively to requests for assistance.
• Mentors and guides team members, including RCPs, students, and support staff, to enhance their skills and performance.
• Leads and resolves problems within the work unit, promoting a positive work environment and optimizing department results.
• Executes clinical and critical thinking skills in challenging procedures and patient care situations, utilizing conflict management techniques as needed.
• Serves as a liaison between team members, management, and physicians, resolving routine matters for the shift/area.
• Identifies and addresses needs for adjustment/intervention to ensure optimum patient care and experience.
• Monitors and adjusts activities of the assigned team to ensure optimum patient throughput and experience.
• Drives service improvements to impact department scores for patient satisfaction, through peer-to-peer accountability for service standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credentials.
• Four years experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner with two years in ICU, Neonatal, and/or ER.
• Lead/supervisor experience, with consideration given to HM employees with three years respiratory care experience and demonstrated leadership abilities.
• Required licenses and certifications: RRT, RCP, BLS, ACLS, NRP.
• One of the following must be obtained within 6 months: RRT-ACCS, NPS, CPFT, RPFT, RRT-SDS, AE-C, TTS, RPSGT.
• PALS preferred, depending on area assigned.

• Independent and expertly serves as the department primary resource for staff.
• Capable of handling challenging/difficult diagnostic procedures and patient care situations.
• Sound judgment and execution of above-average clinical skills.
• Basic computer knowledge; operates multiple computer systems to include, Hospital / Respiratory Information Systems and Office software.
• Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skills.
• Adapts to multiple ongoing priorities with minimal supervision.
