Skills Needed to Win

• Produce creative, architecturally cohesive elevations that enhance curb appeal, reflect client selections and maintain that “no two homes look alike”.
• Collaboratively ensure design quality control by being a voice that gives feedback to designers and construction team as necessary.
• Research and integrate current architectural design trends for active adult homes and communities.
• Keep every design project moving smoothly through the production pipeline.
• Track client progress, balance workloads, monitor deadlines, and ensure quality deliverables are returned to the Home Design Specialists on schedule.
• Lead and support drafters and designers by assigning projects, communicating expectations, reviewing work, and providing technical guidance.
• Improve the efficiency, consistency, and scalability of the design production process.
• Translate client-approved design revisions into complete, accurate, and buildable CAD construction documents while preserving the Home Design Specialist's design intent.
• Persistently partner with the entire Team from Sales through Construction to ensure design intent, technical accuracy, and construction readiness are maintained throughout each project.
• Identify design or constructability issues before they impact the client or field team.
• Recommend practical solutions as they arise throughout the build.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Lead Residential Architectural Designer who can bring our vision to life. This person will be responsible for transforming creative concepts into precise, construction-ready plans, collaborating across the design and construction teams to create distinctive homes that reflect the quality, craftsmanship, and innovation of the Hoffman Homes brand. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical expertise, creative vision, and leadership skills to ensure every home and every client experience is delivered with excellence.

Responsibilities

• Create homes that people are proud to call their own by designing beautiful, thoughtfully crafted exterior elevations that capture each client's vision, enhance curb appeal, and reflect the timeless quality, character, and craftsmanship that define the Hoffman Homes experience.
• Partner with Home Design Specialists and Interior Designers to create award-winning Parade Homes, explore innovative architectural ideas, and continually elevate the design excellence of every Hoffman Home.
• Lead and oversee the residential design production process by assigning work, establishing priorities, managing deadlines, and ensuring every client project progresses efficiently from design to completed construction documents.
• Transform creative ideas into precise, buildable construction documents by producing high-quality floor plans, elevations, electrical plans, and technical drawings.
• Use your expertise to identify challenges early, recommend smart solutions, and help ensure every home is built as beautifully as it was envisioned.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a related field, with at least 10 years of professional experience in residential architecture. Experience with residential design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar is required. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
