Lead Residential AC Installer
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Lead Residential Air Conditioning Installer to oversee and perform high-quality residential HVAC installations. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to manage installation crews while delivering exceptional customer service. In addition to hourly pay, this position offers piece-rate incentives for efficient, high-quality installations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage residential HVAC installation projects from start to finish
- Install and replace residential AC systems, including split systems, heat pumps, and ductless mini-splits
- Supervise and train apprentice or helper installers on job sites
- Ensure installations meet manufacturer specifications, company standards, and local codes
- Install ductwork, refrigerant lines, condensate drainage, and electrical connections
- Perform system start-up, testing, and commissioning
- Diagnose and resolve installation-related issues on site
- Communicate clearly with homeowners regarding system operation and maintenance
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site
- Complete job documentation, photos, and required paperwork
- Cookordination with dispatch, management, and sales teams to ensure smooth installations
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- 3+ years of residential HVAC installation experience
- EPA Section 608 Certification required
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Able to pass a background screening
- Proven leadership or crew lead experience
- Strong understanding of residential HVAC systems, airflow, and electrical fundamentals
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in attics, crawlspaces, rooftops, and outdoor environments
Preferred Skills & Certifications
- HVAC trade school or technical training
- NATE certification
- Experience with high-efficiency and variable-speed systems
- Advanced brazing and refrigerant handling skills
- Ability to train and mentor junior installers
Pay
Hourly Rate: $20-$30 per hour (based on experience and certifications)
Piece Rate: Additional pay per completed installation or system type
Performance Bonuses: Based on efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work is performed in residential homes and outdoor environments with exposure to varying weather conditions, confined spaces, heights, dust, and noise. This role requires frequent standing, bending, climbing ladders, and working in attics, crawlspaces, and rooftops. Must be able to safely lift and carry 50+ pounds and follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
