About the role
Western State Hospital is seeking a full time Lead Rehab Assistant to assist in the development and implementation of training/therapeutic interventions within the psychosocial treatment program and provide community recreation programming and vocational training available to all clients of Western State Hospital.
Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct a minimum of 12 hours of psychosocial rehabilitation interventions per week, according to approved schedules
- Ensure that activities are age appropriate and reflect clients' needs, interests, and abilities as reflected by assessment data
- Maintain a passing score on annual competency summary report
- Assist supervisor in planning, organizing, and evaluating classes for community recreation program
- Supervise 4-8 hours per week of instruction for clients in vocational training
- Assist in completing canteen functions in the absence of other canteen employees requiring food preparation, sanitation, use of cash register, grill, and fryer
Requirements
- Valid Virginia Driver's license
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience leading and supervising recreational activities
- College courses in recreation, leisure, vocational, recreational therapy or occupational therapy field (preferred)
- Experience working with special populations
- Experience working in mental health (preferred)

Pay
$48,000 to $59,000
