About the Role

Collaborates with the Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) and/or the Regional Director of Nursing to plan, direct, and evaluate the overall nursing care and functions of the clinic. Coordinates the activities of the unit and directs, organizes, and assigns work to the nurses and pharmacy technicians. Assesses, monitors, and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary. Ensures compliance with all job breakdown instructions (JBIs) and regulations in the assigned areas.

This Lead role encompasses all core responsibilities and performance expectations of the Registered Nurse, in addition to the leadership and oversight duties outlined below.

Responsibilities

  • Work in collaboration with all office departments to ensure continuity of patient care and smooth office flow.
  • Staffing: Prepare schedule for clinic’s nurses and pharmacy technician(s). Works in collaboration with the CNM and/or OM to ensure coverage for patient schedules and/or staff planned/unplanned time off.
  • Training: Collaborates with the CNM to plan the orientation of new nurses and pharmacy technicians. Reviews and assesses the skills of new employees with the CNM to determine the need for further training. Ensures employees have the resources to perform their job.
  • Forms: Responsible for the completion of incident reports and adverse event reports.
  • Patient Education: Coordinates with nurses to ensure patient education is completed prior to initiation of new medication. Oversees packet assembly for patient education material.
  • Communication: Acts as a resource for staff regarding AON policies and procedures. Collaborates with the CNM on clinical policy, procedure, and regulatory changes, and communicates these to the nursing and pharmacy staff.
  • Research: Understands and supports clinical trials. Communicates with Research Coordinator to ensure patient care is achieved, if applicable.
  • Pharmacy: Works with the purchasing department to ensure PAR levels are maintained to minimize waste. Has thorough knowledge of the Nucleus medication dispensing system. Oversees ordering of medical and pharmaceutical supplies. Complies with all Federal and State laws and regulations pertaining to patient care, patients’ rights, safety, billing, human resources, and collections.
  • Adheres to all AON and departmental policies and procedures, including IT policies and the Disaster Recovery Plan.
  • Maintains and ensures the confidentiality of all patient and employee information.
  • Works at any AON location to help meet business needs, within reasonable expectations.
  • Works overtime when given sufficient notice.
  • Attends and participates in CNM and RDN scheduled meetings.
  • Functions and staffs as a Registered Nurse when necessary, including performing port flushes, injections, administering infusions, and supporting nurse triage.
  • Ensures completion of daily variance report and resolution of unsigned charges.
  • Maintains knowledge of the Nucleus medication dispensing system.
  • Creates and maintains a positive, high-quality work environment.
  • Collaborates with CNM or RDN to provide daily direction and communication to employees so departmental work is performed efficiently.
  • Creates and maintains a high-quality work environment to motivate team members to perform at their highest level.
  • Provides continual evaluation of processes and procedures and suggests improvements for area operations, efficiency, and service.
  • Establishes work procedures and processes that support company and departmental standards and strategic directives.
  • Provides performance feedback and coaching regularly to each nurse/pharmacy technician.
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all employees to foster a cooperative and harmonious working climate.
  • Provides appropriate coaching, counseling, direction, and resolution to staff nurses when applicable.
  • Interviews job applicants and provides feedback.

Requirements

  • Unencumbered RN License in the state of employment or multi-state licensure.
  • Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in nursing is required.
  • Certification of OCN required within two years of employment.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Valid state Driver’s License for travel to satellite offices and offsite meetings. Compliance with the company Driver Safety Operations and Motor Vehicle Records Check Policy is required.
  • At least two years of experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital.

  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required.

Pay

Pay Range: $27.74 - $51.51 per hour

Schedule

Standard core workdays/hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Travel: Less than 25%.
