About the Opportunity

Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada (CCCN) has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Radiation Therapist in Las Vegas, Nevada. In this role, you will work with some of the best physicians in their fields while providing care to patients in a successful health care organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists with interviewing, hiring, and training designated employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; and rewarding and disciplining employees.
  • Serves as mentor to employees in radiation oncology department.
  • Responsible for the instruction of newly hired radiation staff and radiation therapy students on all equipment applicable.
  • Maintains patient appointment schedule and submits correct billing information.
  • Accurately delivers and records radiation therapy treatments under the direction of a radiation oncologist.
  • May assist in chart audits and QA procedures.
  • May participate in development of QA procedures.
  • Accurately interprets a computerized treatment plan.
  • Accurately cuts blocks and makes custom molds.
  • Accurately enters and maintains patient treatment parameters into the electronic medical record.
  • Accurately completes simple mu calculation.
  • May review and amend patient billing for accuracy.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited radiation therapy program.
  • Minimum five years actively practicing as an RTT.
  • ARRT certification required.
  • Valid state license for radiation therapy required.

Physical Demands

  • Must have the ability to utilize components of the treatment planning computer including but not limited to the use of keyboards, digitizers, trackball and mouse controls.
  • Must be able to stand for 8 hours.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pound block to shoulder level.
  • Must have sufficient visual acuity to distinguish structures and isodose displays on computer monitor.
  • Must be able to align treatment field and monitor patient during radiation therapy treatment.
  • Must have adequate hearing and speaking capabilities to effectively communicate with patients and staff.
  • Must have adequate mobility to assist patients on and off treatment couch and document treatment.

Work Environment

Work is performed in an office environment. Involves frequent contact with staff. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to direct contact with patients with potential for exposure to blood, toxic substances, ionizing radiation and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Successful candidates will thrive in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment and have a passion for caring for their patients.
