Lead Radiation Therapist

Position Summary

Performance of all aspects of Radiation Therapy within the limits of professional licensure and accreditations and as part of a departmental team. The RTT will maintain and monitor all equipment in their department including but not limited to the CT Simulator, LINAC, Laser systems, IT systems, patient positioning equipment, and patient care equipment. The RTT will maintain a safe and professional atmosphere with physicians, physicists, dosimetrists, nurses and administrative staff.

Job Duties & Essential Functions

• Maintain a staffing schedule to ensure daily coverage of therapists on all treatment machines and work directly with the site administrator in order to maintain all regulatory compliance requirements.
• Participate in departmental committees; including but not limited to Peer Review, QA Committees.
• Aid in training new Therapists.
• Report and act as the constant liaison between front line radiation therapists, division leads, and management on day-to-day clinical issues, problems, and patient complaints to the Site Administrator.

Required Experience And Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved program in Radiation Therapy.
• NYS License in Radiation Therapy.
• Member of ASRT and ARRT.
• Minimum 3 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Varian Accelerators, CT simulations and ARIA record and verify system.
• Experience performing various treatments to include SBRT, IMRT, HDR, and SRS.

Physical Demands

This position may require prolonged periods of standing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or positioning and transferring of patients. Lifts supplies and equipment, moves heavy equipment. Subject to Electrical and Radiation Hazards.
