Purpose of the Job

The primary purpose of this job is to assure that all products produced meet PCNA specifications. The Lead Lab Technician operates, monitors, and makes adjustments on the blending equipment to assure product quality. Reviews daily records for accuracy, trains new associates, and works with the team to ensure only the highest quality products are manufactured.

Responsibilities

  • Performs micro blend operation.
  • Tests finished products, packages, water, syrup, and high-fructose corn syrup.
  • Maintains production lines for beverage quality.
  • Makes adjustments to equipment to monitor production lines for beverage quality.
  • Calibrates equipment.
  • Tests and treats water.
  • Collects, plates, reads, and records microbiology samples.
  • Controls lab inventory (Kanban).
  • Trains new technicians.
  • Cleans in place (CIP) verification, setup, and performance.
  • Organizes storage, performs housekeeping, and removes trash.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with three (3) years of quality control experience.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • A background in chemistry and laboratory environment is preferred.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to think analytically.
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
  • Self-motivation and strong initiative.
  • Ability to learn and follow established procedures without deviation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Training and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work hours necessary to complete assigned tasks.

  • Diversified and complex job requiring continuous and sustained mental effort and alertness or very close work requiring constant visual attention.

Physical Functions

  • Constantly (67%-100%) required to stand.
  • Frequently (34%-66%) required to walk.
  • Occasionally (0%-33%) required to climb and lift up to 50 lbs.
