Lead QA/Point of Care Technologist; FT SAL

About the role

The Lead QA/POC Technologist reports to the Director of Laboratory Services and assists the Medical Director with Quality/POC oversight of the laboratory. This position collaborates with various hospital staff members and staff from supported outreach locations on issues related to Quality and Point of Care management.

Responsibilities

• Daily oversight of Quality and Point of Care (QC/POC) services of the laboratory
• Aid the Medical Director with Quality/POC oversight of the laboratory
• Help the Director ensure continuous, reliable, day-to-day operation of the department
• Collaborate with the Director of Laboratory Services, Medical Director, Medical Staff, Nursing Staff, other hospital staff members, and staff from supported outreach locations on issues related to Quality and Point of Care management
• Implement, communicate, and maintain all laboratory quality measures
• Keep the department in a readiness state with accreditation entities for quality and POC activities

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution with at least 4 years of general lab experience in high complexity testing including Point of Care preferred
• Bachelor degree required
• Two years’ previous hospital supervisory experience preferred
• MLS/MLT certification required
• Punctual attendance at assigned work location is required
• Required to work in a safe and efficient manner and maintain an accident free work place, including ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of emergency codes
• Required to comply with OSHA regulations and CDC standard and transmission-based precaution recommendations and to utilize proper personal protective equipment
• Ability to comply with provisions of applicable S.D.S. forms
• Required to achieve all departmental goals and competencies while actively contributing to the department’s ongoing strategic initiatives
