About the role
The Project Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing large-scale deployments with significant complexity, unique requirements, or those qualifying as "Special". They ensure timely project completion and delivery, manage resources, coordinate project meetings, assess risks, and lead the project team.
Responsibilities
- Develop, plan, and manage implementation of activities for highly complex projects/programs throughout their lifecycle.
- Accountable for timely OSP project completion and delivery.
- Analyze work plans and schedules, develop project progress and status reports, and coordinate project meetings.
- Coordinate resource allocation and track action items, ensuring deliverables are met on time.
- Assess and manage risks, impacts, and potential alternatives, escalating as necessary.
- Set program objectives and establish clear measures to define and meet project deliverables and timelines.
- Utilize the change control process to track schedule changes.
- Act as project team leader and ensure successful overall project completion.
- Define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), training, process standards, policies, and procedures for complex projects.
- Ensure adherence to project-related policies and processes.
- Reiterate scope, roles/responsibilities, and schedule regularly and provide a single point of contact for all project issues.
- Employ judgment to make business decisions impacting the project, customer, or company and have the authority to stop activities if necessary.
- Identify and ensure participation of all required internal and vendor resources for on-time service delivery within budgetary guidelines.
- Negotiate due dates based on resource/network availability to maintain profitability and meet customer requirements.
- Act as the customer-facing single point of contact during the project lifecycle.
- Engage the Sales organization as appropriate to identify additional sales opportunities.
- Deliverables include project assessment, team formation, schedule preparation, status/jeopardy reports, risk analysis, project status reports, and post-implementation analysis.
- Act as a mentor and team leader to other teammates.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or 5+ years of related experience in implementation of technologies such as OSP, AI, DWDM, Transport/Waves, MPLS, Managed Services, Voice (PRI, SIP, Porting, etc.), Security, SD WAN, Managed Enterprise Services, Meraki.
- Preferred: Implementation experience with more than one of the following technologies: DWDM, Transport/Waves, MPLS, Managed Services, Voice (PRI, SIP, Porting, etc.), Security, SD WAN, Managed Enterprise Services, Meraki, etc.
- Experience leading multiple complex projects in the technology industry.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2 Certification.
- 6+ years in project management experience.
