About the role

L3Harris is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead, Program Management to join our Advanced Missile Propulsion & Technologies (AMPT) organization within the Missile Defense and Warheads organization in the Missile Solutions (MSSL) segment. This role is a subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of job area and in-depth knowledge of project management.

Location: Canoga Park, CA (Preferred) or Huntsville, AL

Travel: Up to 15%, including 1 multi-day trip per month

Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Direct all phases of programs from inception through completion, driving execution to achieve key business and financial objectives for orders, revenue recognition, operating income, and free cash flow.
  • Oversee cost, schedule, and technical performance of company programs or subsystems of major programs.
  • Participate in the negotiation of contracts and contract changes.
  • Coordinate the preparation of proposals, business plans, performance Statement of Work (SOW), specifications, operating budgets, and financial terms/conditions.
  • Act as the primary customer contact for program activities, leading review sessions to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance.
  • Establish design concepts, criteria, and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration, and test; expand the product line with the customer.
  • Establish milestones and monitor adherence to master plans and schedules; identify program problems and obtain solutions, such as allocating resources or changing contractual specifications.
  • Direct the work of employees assigned to the program from technical, manufacturing, and administrative areas.
  • Improve upon existing processes or establish new systems using significant conceptualizing, reasoning, and interpretation; develop or champion new concepts or technologies.
  • Analyze complex problems to understand root causes and recommend solutions.
  • Recommend tactics and strategies that directly impact overall business or functional results; influence others to accept new concepts, practices, and approaches.
  • Conduct briefings to senior leaders and customers; serve as an internal expert and thought leader in area of expertise.
  • Manage large, complex project initiatives of strategic importance involving cross-functional teams; establish educational and training goals for area of expertise.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and training to other employees; recommend new products, processes, policies, standards, or operating plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline and a minimum of 9 years of prior Program Management experience.
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior Program Management experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior Program Management experience.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and innovation skills, with the ability to gather comprehensive information, analyze issues, and develop creative solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with internal teams and external stakeholders, including customers and vendors.
  • Mastery-level knowledge within Program Management; viewed as an expert/resource by peers inside and outside the organization.
  • Experience managing large, complex project initiatives with minimal oversight.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate within and outside the organization to gain cooperation on operational processes, practices, and procedures.
  • Proven ability to make significant improvements in processes, systems, or products.
  • Formal training in Project Management, with PMP certification.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) concepts.
  • Experience in all phases of project and program management, from proposal and negotiations through contract award, execution, and closeout.
  • Experience in an Integrated Project Team (IPT) leadership role.
  • Aerospace or defense development experience.
  • Experience with liquid, solid, or cold gas propulsion systems.
  • Experience with warheads or other energetic systems.

Pay

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in the State of California is $127,500 - $236,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.

Schedule

9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days – totaling 80 hours worked – and have every other Friday off.
