Brief Description

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in managing a team of Program Instructors.
  • Welcome guests and co-workers and provides excellent customer service by responding to questions and concerns.
  • Presents to guests in clean, designated uniform with impeccable hygiene.
  • Acknowledge guests' needs and provide effective and efficient solutions.
  • Provides security for the YMCA, ensuring the safety of guests and co-workers while at Camp Cullen.
  • Responds to situations involving removal of members or non-members who act inappropriately, threaten, or present a danger to others.
  • Completes Incident Reports for all incidents within the Y.
  • Follows all YMCA policies and safety procedures and instructions.
  • Understands and acts responsibly during emergency situations, completing appropriate incident reports.
  • Reports any facility needs; calls maintenance or logs work orders in the facility, ensures that the cleaning crew is notified to vacate rooms or address specific issues, and ensures amenities are replenished.
  • Plan and teach Outdoor Education and Recreation Programming.
  • Lead activities such as archery, zipline, riflery, climbing towers, team building, etc.
  • Apply good teaching and leadership skills to provide quality instructions.
  • Carry, transport, and use necessary equipment during activities.
  • Develop rules and procedures for program areas of camp or assigned activity, ensure adequate program supplies, maintain or improve equipment and/or facilities.
  • Ensure the safety and supervision of guests, students, and participants.
  • Ensure facilities are clean and presentable at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, requiring the same effort, skills, and responsibility when program requirements are changed and modified.
  • Due to the nature of our business, some flexibility on hours may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

  • Continually required to walk and stand on uneven terrain, both downhill and uphill.
  • Lift, carry, and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally assist in lifting, carrying, and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Possess sufficient stamina to perform physical tasks.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for providing the highest quality of guest services for all our guests, participants, and students. Must be able to move on-site and employ flexibility throughout workdays. Responds to and anticipates the needs of our guests and embodies the five core values of the YMCA of Greater Houston.
