Responsibilities
- Covers shift activities to meet production schedule and conducts shift rounds.
- Communicates priorities and general team communications during start of shift meetings.
- Provides technical/process expertise and resolves quality issues on the shift.
- Facilitates integration of new team members and establishes performance measurement KPIs.
- Ensures adherence to work process and instructions, and maintains environmental, safety, and health standards.
- Signs work permits and uses IMS as a guide for work activities.
- Coaches team members on task value assessments and conflict resolution.
- Facilitates skill development through coaching on process and equipment.
- Participates in process-related root cause or failure analysis.
- Ensures maintenance and other service requests are clearly defined, scheduled, and completed.
- Manages startup and shutdown tasks to align with plant operations.
- Engages in sales and operations planning and provides input to process improvement.
- Balances quality, productivity, manpower, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results.
- Works with supervisors to continuously improve processes and achieve consistent results.
- Maintains proper inventory levels, both product and raw materials.
- Responds to equipment, process, and general production issues.
- Uses best judgment to resolve issues and consults with more qualified operators.
- Trains on emergency response (ER) team and wears appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Creates end-of-shift reports and cross-trains on approved functions.
- Initiates activities and responsibilities to contribute to goal achievement and defect-free results.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED with 3+ years of experience in a chemical process operations environment.
- Qualified on process and demonstrated good verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in basic computer software including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation programs.
- Completed Incident Commander Training (ICS200 minimum).
- Demonstrated ability to think and plan ahead, prepare action plans, and measure performance against goals and standards (KPIs).
- Experience in 5S, LEAN manufacturing, and Sologic Root Cause Investigation.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and climb ladders, and pass a respiratory and physical test for wearing a full face respirator.
