About the role

The Lead Product Manager - Surveillance owns the vision, strategy, roadmap, and feature definition for multiple products in the Market Surveillance space. This role manages product backlogs for the Market Abuse group, prioritizes work, and makes product-related decisions based on user and stakeholder needs. The role operates with a high level of autonomy and requires data savviness, as the Surveillance space involves a suite of data products. A passion for driving success on novel ideas from R&D is expected.

Responsibilities

  • User Insight & Product Definition
    • Develop a deep understanding of the business and product areas, including relevant data to inform key decisions.
    • Define multiple or complex products, identify gaps, and address user needs through vision, strategy, and requirements documents.
    • Utilize available data or commission new research to uncover user needs.
    • Perform experiments and organize primary research to identify additional user value.
  • Product Portfolio Management
    • Develop, manage, and own the product roadmap for multiple or complex products.
    • Make trade-off decisions across multiple products in a product group.
    • Demonstrate expertise across products to facilitate discovery and drive enterprise capabilities.
    • Build partnerships with stakeholder teams and coordinate with interdependent teams to drive efficiencies.
    • Collaborate with business stakeholders, UI/UX, architecture, and technology teams to ensure product and user success.
    • Participate in the intake process for the product domain.
  • Product Planning & Prioritization
    • Lead the product planning process by overseeing the development of requirements documents (user stories, acceptance criteria, use cases).
    • Maintain a prioritized backlog based on user value, aligning with product strategy and resource capacity.
    • Use data and analytics to prioritize the product backlog.
    • Work closely with UI/UX to set the direction for user experience design.
    • Determine and monitor release goals, prioritization, implementation, and iteration plans.
    • Resolve escalated problems during the process.
  • Product Development
    • Facilitate the development process by reviewing demos and validating acceptance criteria.
    • Provide UX/UI approval for assigned products.
    • Track development work and drive resolution of escalated issues and bugs.
    • Identify and resolve issues that may impact timely or quality delivery of products.
  • Launch
    • Lead large and complex product launches by developing launch plans with stakeholders.
    • Identify, review, and resolve issues or blockers that may delay launches.
    • Coordinate formal User Acceptance Testing (UAT) where necessary.
    • Develop product documentation and training materials for users.
    • Track and report on product launch metrics, using feedback to drive product iteration.
    • Lead post-launch reviews and incorporate feedback into future releases.
  • Operate
    • Work with internal and external teams to identify, classify, and resolve product-level user issues.
    • Identify new methods and metrics for tracking product success and improve reports and monitoring with the technology team.
    • Actively monitor metrics and gather user feedback to identify gaps and development opportunities.
    • Represent the team in product group-level discussions with stakeholders.
    • Attend business reviews and provide critical input to inform business strategy and new product development.
  • Team Development & Continuous Improvement
    • Provide coaching and guidance to junior product management team members.
    • Work with cross-functional leaders to establish best practices and improve product development processes.
    • Follow, understand, and apply industry trends, research, and best practices in technology and product management.
    • Demonstrate FINRA’s values and collaborate to further its mission of investor protection and market integrity.
  • Additional Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 7 years of experience in one or more of the following: product management, project management, business analysis, program management, or product marketing.
  • 5 years of experience in product and/or experience management.
  • Strong writing ability and business acumen.
  • Experience with Agile software development.
  • Experience working cross-functionally in a large organization.
  • Experience working closely with senior leadership.
  • Experience translating data into quantifiable actions or deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Master’s Degree in Business Administration or a similar advanced degree.
    • CSPO Certification.
    • Experience in the Financial Services industry.
    • Strong financial acumen.
    • Experience collaborating closely with senior leadership.
    • Experience providing guidance and direction to cross-functional resources.

Working Conditions

Hybrid work environment with defined in-person presence requirements. Extended hours may be required.

Pay

  • CO/FL/TX: $114,200 – $207,200
  • IL/PA: $125,900 – $228,000
  • MA/MD/VA/Washington, DC: $131,200 – $238,300
  • NY/NJ: $131,200 – $248,700

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Non-exempt employees are also eligible for overtime pay in accordance with federal, state, or local law.
