Lead Product Manager, Safety
About the role
The Lead Product Manager, Safety will oversee a cross-functional product team to develop and deploy products that enhance the security and privacy of Wikipedia. This role involves working closely with the Wikimedia community and other key stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Identify and prioritize product needs that address security and privacy challenges.
- Develop and lead the implementation of new products and features aimed at deterring malicious activities.
- Collaborate with various teams including engineering, design, data science, and community management to deliver impactful solutions.
- Engage with community groups to gather insights and feedback on product development.
- Shape the Wikimedia Foundation's strategic direction in user safety and anti-abuse, and collaborate with other departments.
- Stay updated on the latest technologies and developments in online safety, security, and privacy.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience in product development, preferably with a focus on internet and consumer-facing software.
- Experience with agile development methodologies and the ability to coordinate multiple functions within an organization.
- Comfortable working with data and using it to drive measurable solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and communities.
- Ability to manage a diverse range of responsibilities in a dynamic and results-oriented environment.
