About the role

As a Lead Principal Engineer in Concept and Design on our Research & Development team, you will merge creativity with technical expertise to shape the future of technology, drive groundbreaking projects, and bring new ideas to life. This role focuses on powering AI through advanced power management ICs for data centers, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and leading the development of innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, prototype, and design control systems for digital power management ICs that power AI computing in data centers.
  • Collaborate with system power architects, application engineers, and power IC designers to define solutions leveraging Infineon’s leadership in power device technologies, power ICs, and power modules.
  • Evaluate system specifications and requirements.
  • Execute proof of concept through system modeling/simulations and FPGA-based hardware prototyping.
  • Draft top-level IC functional requirements and specifications.
  • Drive the development of multiphase power controllers by smart partitioning of functions among analog/mixed-signal, DSP, and firmware.

Requirements

  • Advanced Degree (MSEE / PhD).
  • 15+ years of experience in System/Concept Engineering; Cores & Subsystems, System Modeling; Digital Design; Chip Architecture.
  • A desire to further Infineon’s decades-long leadership in datacenter power.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading commercially successful IC developments.
  • Experience in IC requirements definition and performance analysis of systems, components, blocks, hierarchy, and key sub-blocks.

Skills

  • Strong expertise in analytical and behavioral modeling tools: MATLAB/Simulink, C/System Verilog, Verilog/VHDL, Simetrix/Simplis, Python, or equivalent.
  • Deep understanding of power management, SMPS topologies, precision analog circuits, feedback control loops, DSP, ADC, PWM, HW/FW partitioning, digital interfaces, and mixed-signal IC partitioning.
  • Hands-on experience with FPGA-based hardware prototyping.

Pay

The expected wage range for a qualified candidate in the United States is:

  • Austin, TX: $188,200 – $258,800 per year
  • Andover, MA: $182,600 – $251,000 per year
  • El Segundo, CA: $188,200 – $258,800 per year

In addition, all employees will be eligible to participate in an incentive plan.
