Lead Preschool Teacher - Crossroads Community Center

About the role

The City of Bellevue is seeking a Preschool Lead Teacher to join Crossroads Community Center. This is a part-time, fun, creative, and rewarding position.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement an age-appropriate inclusive preschool program for a diverse group of preschool-aged children.
• Supervise children and ensure the classroom is clean, well-maintained, and safe.
• Report any concerns to the coordinator or center supervisor.
• Develop culturally appropriate programs and activities.
• Teach kindergarten readiness skills and introduce math and literacy concepts.
• Manage transitions and encourage children to use words to resolve conflicts.
• Build children's self-esteem and establish routines.
• Provide various experiences and activities for children, including songs, games, and storytelling.
• Lead circle time, story time, and lead children into the gym.
• Encourage creativity and foster a positive environment in the classroom.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 3 years' experience working in a classroom setting, preferably with preschool-aged children.
• A thorough knowledge of programs and services to which they are assigned.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to children, parents, and City staff.
• Experience and/or training specific to the responsibilities and competencies of this role, or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skill, and abilities.
• Must successfully pass a Criminal Background check.
• Knowledge of child development and early education theories and practices.
• The ability to work in a busy and occasionally noisy environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A combination of ECE knowledge, training, and experience working in a preschool setting.
• Experience working with diverse populations.

Supplemental Information

First Aid, CPR, AED, or other specialized training will be required. Work involves walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reaching with hands and arms. Vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Work will be emotionally demanding or stressful, physically demanding, and physically demanding (participation in athletics, lifting heavy loads, potentially dangerous situations, etc).

Conditions of Employment

• All candidates will be required to establish employment authorization and identity at the time of hire.

• Positions may require completion of a criminal background check prior to start employment.
• Some positions may require obtaining a commercial driver's license (CDL), licensures, or additional certifications.

Definition of a Variable Employee

Average weekly hours are 22.5 hours. Hours may vary from week to week and are anticipated to be 28 hours per week or less. Applicants advancing to the next stage may be required to provide a cover letter, resume, writing sample, and references.
