About This Role

Bristol Child Development Center in Bristol, CT is seeking a qualified Lead Preschool Teacher to work with Preschool (3–5) in a center-based environment. This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and implement classroom environments that foster children's growth and development.
  • Ensure children's safety through constant supervision and effective space arrangement.
  • Collaborate with staff to design and implement lesson plans that meet individual children's needs.
  • Plan activities to stimulate children's growth in all areas of development.
  • Implement curriculum that meets individual children's needs throughout the year.
  • Evaluate children's progress using developmental assessments and observations.
  • Maintain accurate records of children's development and progress.
  • Communicate with parents and staff to ensure seamless services for children.
  • Foster open, friendly relationships with children and their families.
  • Encourage parental involvement in the program.
  • Establish and maintain open communication with parents through regular updates and progress reports.
  • Contribute to the operation of the center through staff meetings and professional development.
  • Promote effective working relationships and teamwork to achieve center goals.
  • Report issues and incidents to administrative staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Follow the center's abuse and neglect policy for reporting suspected abuse.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related human services field plus applicable work experience. Must meet QSM qualifications in CT Charts a Course registry or be willing to obtain ECTC credential.
  • Experience and Training: At least one year of experience in an early childhood setting. First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to complete required courses. Medication and Epi-pen certification or willingness to complete required training.
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment in situations and flexibility in accommodating individual needs/skills for each child. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work with parents, staff and community. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work in a center environment, actively participate in physical activities with children. Must be energetic and physically agile. Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing light objects and lifting children. Must be able to lift 40 lbs. Vision and hearing corrected to normal. Must be able to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Other Requirements: Required to undergo a criminal and Department of Children and Families background check per the Office of Early Childhood's state licensing requirements. Statement of good health from personal physician including documentation of a negative tuberculosis test.
