ACCO Engineered Systems is one of the largest mechanical contractors in the country, specializing in the design, fabrication, installation, maintenance, and service of commercial and industrial HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, process piping, and building automation systems.

About the role

The Lead Engineer independently delivers engineering services from conceptual design through construction completion, managing multiple small and medium-sized standard projects simultaneously with some oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Complete project planning, coordination, and execution to meet project schedules and task deadlines.
  • Independently develop conceptual designs through construction drawings for multiple projects, ensuring compliance with Building Codes, Energy Codes, and LEED standards.
  • Conduct economic and energy analyses, and perform plumbing calculations, design, and layout of equipment and plumbing systems.
  • Apply a solid understanding of commercial plumbing applications, including gas piping, waste and vent, domestic water distribution, and kitchen plumbing design.
  • Ensure the quality of design drawings and models across all assigned projects.
  • Proactively communicate and coordinate project designs with Project Management, Construction, Service departments, Controls, and other trade partners.
  • Engage effectively with colleagues and project team members, involving engineering applications and/or managers in project decisions.
  • Assist with project execution, trade coordination, scheduling, document management, and problem-solving/troubleshooting for field engineers.
  • Oversee other design team members to complete project assignments when requested by the Manager.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 3+ years of experience with a Design/Build Mechanical Contractor or consultant.
  • Excellent understanding of engineering and design fundamentals, with a thorough knowledge of systems and applications.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Strong familiarity with Building Codes and industry standards.
  • Desired: Professional Engineer license.

Schedule

This is a non-exempt position from Monday through Friday. Work hours are between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, including a one-hour lunch break and two rest breaks. Eight hours per day are required, with occasional overtime as needed.

Pay

Competitive wages range from $43 to $62 per hour. Actual compensation is determined by factors unique to each candidate, including skills, experience, certifications, education, and work location.

Travel Requirements

Travel is required 5-10% of the time to other office locations.

Physical Demands

  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 20 pounds.
  • Requires close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Involves prolonged sitting and frequent reaching with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
