This role is a Lead PHP/Laravel Engineer position located in a hybrid setting in San Francisco (SF).

About the Role

Lead the development of core data and rights systems using PHP and Laravel. Oversee backend development, API design, and system migrations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee backend development and API design
• Play a key role in transforming legacy applications to faster, more reliable, and more automated workflows
• Work with data-driven systems, third-party integrations, and perform performance optimization
• Refactor legacy codebases for modern frameworks
• Build data-intensive or transactional systems

Requirements

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience with PHP and Laravel
• Strong experience with system migrations, data modeling, and API integrations
• Familiarity with JavaScript for light frontend integration or API testing is a plus
• Proven ability to work with legacy codebases and refactor for modern frameworks
• Hands-on experience building data-intensive or transactional systems
