Lead Phlebotomist-Outreach-PRN

Responsibilities

• Provide phlebotomy services to outreach facilities/nursing homes on a regular scheduled basis.
• Deliver specimens to laboratory department and assist with registration and distribution of obtained specimens within department standards and hospital policies and procedures.
• Obtain patient lab requisition and collect specimens as ordered by physician.
• Use established direct identification process of nursing facility prior to the collection of specimens.
• Obtain specimen in appropriate container for testing.
• Provide phlebotomy/courier services to outside accounts utilizing private or corporate owned vehicle.
• Ensure that adequate supplies are available to complete anticipated volume of testing.
• Check par-level at nursing facility and restock as needed by completing lab supply requisition forms.
• Follows safety and infection control policies of the laboratory and all other hospital and department policies and procedures.
• Participate in all mandated inservice programs on an annual basis.
• Demonstrate excellence in customer service skills.
• Foster an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration.
• Participate in PI process.
• Other duties that may be assigned.

Requirements

• High level of confidentiality required.
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Must have a valid state-issued blood donor card.
• Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
• Must be able to work irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
