Responsibilities
- Work with the Phlebotomy Supervisor to ensure adequate staffing and adjust schedules for coverage.
- Order supplies and monitor Lab Assistants in assigned locations to ensure compliance and maintain lab compliance logs.
- Communicate and coach policy and procedure changes to Lab Assistants and Phlebotomy Supervisors.
- Avoid contamination and maintain a safe and clean environment by collecting and disposing of specimens and other contaminated material according to established policies and procedures.
- Ensure requisitions are completed properly and include all required patient information, such as demographics, diagnoses, insurance, and physician details.
- Review Medicare NCDs and LMRPs to determine if an ABN needs to be completed for Medicare patients and correctly complete the form if necessary.
- Accurately collect all necessary specimens to fulfill lab orders and provide accurate communication to clients and their staff.
- Keep draw stations clean and stocked with supplies daily and report job performance concerns, call outs, and schedule changes to the Phlebotomy Supervisor.
- Conduct regular periodic meetings with team members to ensure critical information and direction are provided consistently and promptly.
- Conduct weekly timecard reviews to ensure accurate recording of hours for team members.
Requirements
- Active WA State Phlebotomy certification.
- Epic user experience.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in Phlebotomy, with at least 2 years in an outpatient setting.
- Supervisory or lead phlebotomist experience is a plus.
