About the Role
The patient care provider will possess knowledge, training, experience, and competence specific to the age of patients served, including the ability to obtain and interpret information, an understanding of growth and development, and awareness of the range of treatments needed. Patients served include all age groups: neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
Responsibilities
- Collecting venous and capillary whole blood specimens
- Handling Chain of Custody urine and venous blood specimens
- Accessioning, labeling, procuring specimens for testing and transport
- Registering patients and placing or deleting test orders in EMR/LIS
- Operating the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
- Assisting technologists and the Administrative Laboratory Director with laboratory operations as requested and where competency is confirmed
Technical Capabilities
- Specimen Collection (Fundamental Awareness): Limited experience, training, or exposure to specimen collection.

- Phlebotomy (Fundamental Awareness): Limited experience, training, or exposure to phlebotomy.

Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Less than 1 year of relevant work experience
