Lead Pastor - Moosic, PA

About the role

The church is seeking a lead pastor who can work with the elders and church leaders to develop people as disciples who make disciples. The pastor will, along with the church leadership, create a clear system and structure for how people can get connected, be discipled, serve, be cared for, multiply, and reach the community.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a discipleship program that fosters spiritual growth and community building.
• Create and maintain a welcoming environment for new members and ongoing discipleship opportunities.
• Collaborate with the church leadership to plan and execute outreach initiatives that connect with the local community.
• Lead worship services and facilitate small group discussions that encourage personal and communal transformation.
• Oversee the pastoral care team to ensure that all members are cared for spiritually and emotionally.
• Work with the church leadership to train and mentor new pastors and church leaders.
• Represent the church in various community events and partnerships.

Requirements

• A minimum of five years of experience as a staff pastor.
• A minimum education level of an Associate's Degree, including or in addition to 30 credit hours of Bible, theology, and ministry study.

Church History

In the 1890s, Rev. William T. MacArthur was sent to launch a church in the Pittston, PA area. The church grew and expanded its outreach throughout northeastern Pennsylvania, establishing daughter churches in towns like Duryea, Avoca, Glendale, and Moosic (now Moosic Alliance Community Church) through innovative "cell church" methods. More than 40 people from this movement eventually entered full-time ministry, missions, and Christian education, demonstrating how God can use humble beginnings for great purposes.
