About the role

This position requires an advanced knowledge of the aircraft paint processes. The job involves leading teams, varying amounts of work order processing, log book entries and general aircraft painting. Supervision of the team and direction of project flow will be a primary function.

Responsibilities

  • Leading teams, varying amounts of work order processing, log book entries and general aircraft painting.
  • Supervision of the team and direction of project flow.
  • Cooking schedule with other departments.
  • Training of individual team members to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
  • Scheduling with parts department to ensure necessary materials required to complete the jobs are available.
  • Aid in final inspection of aircraft.
  • Maintain the premises of the paint shop and work facilities in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Many duties of the Paint Lead Tech may be delegated by him to qualified subordinates as deemed necessary; however, such delegation does not relieve the supervisor of the overall responsibility.
  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal.
  • 8+ years’ experience in painting of aircraft, autobody, RV or Marine preferred.
  • This position needs exclusive knowledge in all area's of the job.
  • This position will need minimal supervision and will be responsible for leading small work groups on daily tasks.

  • Your Sense Of Responsibility: Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments. Notify the supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work. Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day. Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
  • Physical Requirements: Lift and carry 50 lbs. Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting. Work standing on ladder or scaffold. Pass pulmonary physical Pass respiratory fit test, as you must wear protective gear.
  • Mental Requirements: Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines including but not limited to OSHA, haz mat, etc. Logically work with mechanical processes. Work with others in a professional manner. Good communication skills.

Pay

Compensation and benefit information is disclosed according to state specific requirements. Additional compensation in the form of a shift differential will be provided if the employee is assigned to an alternate shift. Other forms of compensation include a semi-annual discretionary bonus, 401(k) company match and employer contribution to a Health Savings Account (HSA).

Schedule

The majority of work will be accomplished in a heated hangar or shop area. Work in aircraft on ramp may occur. Varied positions in and around the aircraft. Equipment Used Air equipment, polisher and sander. Stripper pump, electrostatic paint guns, pressure posts, and laser level. Tugs, power carts and other engine powered equipment.
