Department: Packaging    Shift: 3 p.m.–11 p.m.    Reports to: Packaging Supervisor

About the role

The Lead Person, Packaging Multi-Line provides direction and troubleshooting for two or more packaging lines while performing at the highest skill level in those same areas.

Responsibilities

  • Spend up to 50% of work time guiding and troubleshooting for packaging work groups; report team-member performance to supervisors (no formal evaluation or disciplinary authority).
  • Maintain expert-level skills in assigned packaging areas:
    • Operate automated packaging and palletizing equipment; set up, inspect, and make minor adjustments.
    • Sample packaged product to verify specifications.
    • Identify non-conformance events and take corrective actions.
    • Perform manual tasks such as hand-stacking product.
    • Periodically weigh product packages to ensure weight compliance.
    • Inspect supplies (bags, super-sacks, pallets) for quality, quantity, and inventory levels.
  • Operate forklift to load trailers and/or move material (SP & Powders only).
  • Interact with computer systems for compliance and reporting:
    • Input environmental, production, and shipping records using CMS, AS400, spreadsheets, or paper reports.
  • Spot, set up, load, and move bulk trucks and railcars (SP & Powders only).
  • Maintain clean, clutter-free work areas.
  • Observe all safety rules, regulations, and precautions.
  • Participate in process-improvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must pass the position assessment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for leadership.
  • Thorough understanding of safety requirements and compliance.
  • Ability to use technology to monitor and communicate process/product status.
  • Visual acuity to differentiate products and hear warning alarms.
  • Ability to read and understand bills of lading.
  • Proficiency in interacting with computer systems.
  • Understanding of and adherence to the quality management system.

Physical demands & work environment

  • Stand for the duration of the shift.
  • Frequently lift up to 60 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, stooping, walking, and climbing stairways/ladders (including ladders over 100 feet).
  • Ability to communicate via radio and phone.

Pay

$24.77 per hour plus a $2.00 shift differential.
