About the role
Tenant Counseling Services provides resources and advocacy for tenants facing various issues related to housing.
Responsibilities
- Counsel tenants on legal rights and options
- Assist with evictions and habitability concerns
- Provide guidance on abusive landlord situations
- Offer support for rent control and the rent board
- Help with roommate/subletting/master tenant issues
- Support security deposit disputes
- Advocate for sale of buildings and rent increase protections
- Provide resources for SROs/residential hotels
- Offer general tenant rights information
Requirements
Strong interpersonal skills, legal knowledge, and experience working with tenants.
Qualifications
Legal background preferred, but not required. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to tenant advocacy.
Skills
Knowledge of local housing laws, excellent communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
