Lead Operator - Renewable Natural Gas

About the role

Waga Energy is a company dedicated to fighting global warming and promoting a sustainable energy transition through the recovery of landfill gas into biomethane. The company specializes in developing and operating WAGABOX® landfill gas upgrading units, which convert raw biogas into high-quality biomethane that can be injected into the gas grid or used as vehicle fuel. Currently, these units are operational at multiple sites worldwide, including in California, Oregon, and Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Oversight of WAGABOX® operations and maintenance
• Ensuring Plant Operators complete assigned tasks in a safe, timely, and effective manner
• Serving as the primary representative for assigned WAGABOX® sites
• Maintaining a strong safety culture and promoting a safe work environment
• Communicating operational status to the Operations & Maintenance Director
• Performing duties of a Plant Operator as needed
• Onboarding and training new Plant Operators
• Coordinating and monitoring Plant Operator workload
• Providing technical and methodological support to Plant Operators
• Advocating for Plant Operators and ensuring they have the necessary tools and resources
• Supporting Plant Operator skill development and career growth
• Providing performance feedback for the annual performance evaluation

Qualifications & Skills

• A minimum of 7 years of mechanical/electrical maintenance experience in a plant/industrial operations environment
• Experience working in landfill gas, biogas, or natural gas processing
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment
• Experience with industrial safety procedures and regulations including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and confined space entry
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with CMMS platforms and maintenance planning
• Ability to perform physical tasks associated with the role
• Experience supervising field-based or remote site personnel

• Related technical or vocational education/training
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
• Experience with industrial safety procedures and regulations
