Exempt 12-Month General Statement of Responsibilities

Principle Duties

  • Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with others.
  • Develop and implement appropriate policies and guidelines in support of the School Health Services Program.
  • Aid with the recruitment, selection, and orientation of school Health Staff.
  • Supervise duties to registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and health assistants working as a part of the School Health Services Program.
  • The Lead Nurse will provide technical feedback to the building principal who evaluates the RN assigned to their campus.
  • District Health Nurse will train all Health Office staff.
  • Plan and supervise the school wide screening program for vision and hearing.
  • Compile final screening statistics for annual report.
  • Review and implement all laws, regulations, and directives regarding health issues received from county and state health agencies.
  • Plan and coordinate health related trainings for school personnel.
  • Aid all Health Services staff to prepare and provide school health presentations for their school campus.
  • Maintain quality of care by all staff who also treat all students and school staff with courtesy and respect.
  • Provide health education to all district staff.
  • Provide consultation regarding community health issues for MUSD.
  • Provide on-site support for summer school.

Knowledge And Skills

  • Knowledge of nursing policies and practices.
  • Knowledge of public health policies, programs, and practices.
  • Knowledge of community health resources and programs.
  • Knowledge of current nursing practice and management of students who require specialized nursing care while attending school.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, FERPA, and OSHA regulations and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of infection control and prevention of communicable diseases in the schools.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, with additional coursework in public health nursing preferred.

Required License/Certification

  • State of Arizona Board Certified Registered Nursing License.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Hearing Testing Certification.

Preferred License/Certification

  • AZ Hearing Certification.
  • AZ Vision Certification.
  • Crisis Intervention Prevention.

Knowledge And Skills - Continued
