About the role
Kingman Regional Medical Center (KRMC) is the largest employer and largest healthcare provider in Mohave County, Arizona. The Lead MRI Technologist position is supervised by the Imaging Supervisor and reports to the Radiologist.
Responsibilities
- Supervises MRI staff and coordinates their work.
- Makes and assigns daily schedules for assigned personnel and maintains accurate records.
- Aids technical and ancillary staff in performing job duties and offers suggestions for improving efficiency and quality.
- Performs control and quality control tasks (QA/QC).
- Serves as the Clinical Coordinator for MRI students.
- Coordinates and implements appropriate care under the direction of the Radiologist.
- Selects the most appropriate patient care plan based on patient abilities and conditions.
- Monitors patient and equipment during procedures and documents exam details promptly.
- Evaluates lab values before administering contrast media and assesses factors that may contraindicate the procedure.
- Ensures the department delivers quality services in accordance with professional standards.
- Provides evidence-based care to prevent Healthcare Acquired Conditions and hospital readmissions.
- Applies AIDET and other evidence-based behaviors when interacting with patients and family members.
- Manages multiple priorities and communicates regularly with supervisors about absences.
- Participates in continuous process improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Graduate of an ACR or JRCERT approved educational program.
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
- MRI Certification through ARRT required within one year post-educational cross training within the organization.
- ARRT or ARMRIT current registration and licensure.
- One-year experience as an MRI technologist preferred.
- Effective communication and technical skills.
- Ability to manage equipment and assist with patient movement.
- Concentration and visual/auditory acuity for monitoring exams.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an ACR or JRCERT approved educational program.
- Experience: One-year experience as an MRI technologist preferred.
- Certification: BLS certification through the American Heart Association, MRI Certification through ARRT required within one year post-educational cross training within the organization.
- Licenses: Current registration and licensure by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) or the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT).
Skills
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and resources to obtain optimal diagnostic images.
- Understanding of and responsibility for magnetic resonance safety compliance requirements.
- Standard precautions during patient contact and handling contaminated materials.
- Compliance with CDC hand hygiene guidelines and reduction of hospital-acquired infections.
- Use of extensive knowledge of MRI techniques, including advanced angiography and reformatting.
- Recognition of significant clinical information and historical facts impacting the examination.
