About the Role

The Lead Medical Technologist - Blood Bank performs specimen collection, prepares samples, and conducts laboratory procedures essential for diagnosing and treating diseases. They verify, record, and report test results accurately and promptly, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, hospital policies, and laboratory procedures. This position includes lead responsibilities, overseeing instrument operation, maintenance, quality control, and regulatory adherence specific to Blood Bank operations.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and prepare specimens for testing
  • Perform and verify laboratory tests, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, perform quality control, and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Lead blood bank operations and support team members
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment in accordance with policies

Qualifications

  • Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred, with NCCLS accreditation or equivalent
  • Certifications such as ASCP, AAB, AMT, or equivalent
  • Minimum of one year of blood banking experience

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, instrument management, and regulatory compliance
  • Leadership ability to serve as a lead technologist and coordinate team efforts
