Responsibilities

The Medical Records Lead is responsible for coordinating the daily operations of the Health Information Management department and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant management of patient health records. This role provides leadership and guidance to Medical Records staff, supports regulatory compliance, oversees record completion and release of information processes, and promotes the integrity, confidentiality, and security of medical records in accordance with federal and Texas state regulations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of medical records or Health Information Management experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA.

Preferred:

  • Associate degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
  • Certified Healthcare Documentation Specialist (CHDS)
  • Prior lead, supervisory, or team leadership experience.
