Lead Medical Office Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Help coordinate daily front office and call center operations
  • Support, train, and mentor Medical Office Specialist team members
  • Aid in customer service coaching and workflow questions
  • Monitor productivity, quality, and front office efficiency
  • Greet and check in patients in a friendly and professional manner
  • Answer and transfer phone calls
  • Schedule new and follow-up appointments
  • Verify and update patient information in the medical record
  • Collect co-pays and payments at the time of service
  • Absorb and assist with payment plans and daily bank deposits
  • Resolve patient concerns and escalate issues when needed

REQUIRED

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a medical office, clinic, hospital, dental office, or healthcare front office setting

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure
  • Strong computer, EHR, and data entry skills
  • Ability to support and guide team members professionally
  • Ability to handle cash and complete basic math accurately

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing
  • Previous experience in a hospital, clinic, or physician’s office
  • Knowledge of Patient Centered Medical Home and Meaningful Use
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills
