Lead Medical Assistant/MA - Primary Care Clinic

Job Overview

Fairview is seeking a Lead Medical Assistant to join their team in Woodbury, MN. This position is approved for 80 hours every two weeks and is benefit-eligible. Clinic hours are Monday–Thursday: 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM and Friday: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM. There is also a potential $2000 New Hire Sign-on Bonus available.

About the Role

This position supports quality patient- and family-centered care principles by performing a variety of high-level functions within a care team. The Medical Assistant gathers information and documents to support the patient visit, adheres to policies, promotes teamwork, maintains clinical documentation, and looks for process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates daily activities of the work team to ensure patient needs are met.
• Assists with arranging immediate coverage for sick calls and assigns breaks.
• Makes adjustments to daily work assignments to meet department requirements.
• Responds to and resolves operational issues, including provider issues.
• Ensures adequate inventory of supplies by serving as a liaison to supply chain.
• Coordinates staff orientation and training.
• Provides observations and assists with testing for competency regarding performance, conduct, and behavior.
• Maintains confidentiality and promotes a team environment.
• Serves as a clinic representative at peer groups or other meetings.
• Attends clinic meetings and communicates appropriate information.
• Leads by example, problem-solving, and project work.
• Motivates and encourages employees.
• Serves as a mentor within the department.
• Supports organizational initiatives.
• Safeguards a safe work environment.
• Maintains equipment in working order and completes quality control logs as needed.
• Assists in patient feedback or concerns by investigating issues.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or LPN.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.
• 2-3 years of experience in a related field is preferred.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (American Heart Association or Red Cross).
• Preferred: 2-3 years of experience in a related field.
