About the role
Lead Mechanical Engineer (Design) responsible for designing aircraft structures, mission equipment, and mechanical systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop layouts, prepare engineering drawings, and coordinate design activities across departments.
- Utilize 3D CAD tools to create detailed parts and assemblies.
- Provide guidance and training to team members.
- Ensure designs meet cost, scope, and schedule requirements.
- Manage program lifecycle activities including proposals, risk assessment, and execution.
- Ensure compliance with airworthiness standards and customer needs.
- Lead large prototype programs and influence stakeholders through effective communication.
- Maintain knowledge of aircraft and mission systems, certification processes, and regulations.
- Support process improvements and operational plans to enhance performance.
- Handle security clearance requirements and collaborate in fast-paced environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 9+ years or graduate degree with 7+ years of aircraft design experience; or 13+ years of experience without a degree.
- U.S. citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret with SCI clearance.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of FAA and military aircraft standards, lifecycle management, and MS Office tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active security clearance.
