About the role

Eaton’s Corporate Sector division is currently seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer. The expected annual salary range for this role is $105,000 – $154,000 a year. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design and development activities and demonstrate start-to-finish ownership for assigned projects and tasks.
  • Perform mechanical design (e.g., 3D CAD modeling, FEA structural analysis) of components and assemblies.
  • Develop technical requirements and identify components for the designs.
  • Create technical reports and presentations.
  • Perform engineering analysis to define critical design parameters and predict design latitude.
  • Conduct lab activities such as prototyping and measurement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members (e.g., electrical engineers, lab technicians) to develop and validate designs.
  • Evaluate designs against requirements considering performance, size, cost, manufacturability, and reliability.
  • Up to 10% domestic and international travel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5 years of engineering experience integrating mechanical and electrical components by creating structured 3D CAD assemblies and using FEA tools to ensure designs meet requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Significant experience in 3D CAD (e.g., SolidWorks).
  • Strong working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principles.
  • Experience in FEA analysis such as thermal analysis.
  • Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Serviceability.
  • Customer-focused with strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Experience designing battery packs, racks, or systems.
  • Design for Six Sigma certification.
