About the role
Eaton’s Corporate Sector division is currently seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer. The expected annual salary range for this role is $105,000 – $154,000 a year. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design and development activities and demonstrate start-to-finish ownership for assigned projects and tasks.
- Perform mechanical design (e.g., 3D CAD modeling, FEA structural analysis) of components and assemblies.
- Develop technical requirements and identify components for the designs.
- Create technical reports and presentations.
- Perform engineering analysis to define critical design parameters and predict design latitude.
- Conduct lab activities such as prototyping and measurement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional team members (e.g., electrical engineers, lab technicians) to develop and validate designs.
- Evaluate designs against requirements considering performance, size, cost, manufacturability, and reliability.
- Up to 10% domestic and international travel.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 5 years of engineering experience integrating mechanical and electrical components by creating structured 3D CAD assemblies and using FEA tools to ensure designs meet requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Significant experience in 3D CAD (e.g., SolidWorks).
- Strong working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principles.
- Experience in FEA analysis such as thermal analysis.
- Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Serviceability.
- Customer-focused with strong relationship-building and communication skills.
- Experience designing battery packs, racks, or systems.
- Design for Six Sigma certification.
