About the role

This role assists in leading the day-to-day activities of the department operations in a retail store. Responsibilities include training associates, ensuring full staffing, meeting company standards, and contributing to the financial success of the store.

Responsibilities

  • Order and maintain inventory in the department, using inventory control procedures to ensure product freshness and quality.
  • Cut and weigh steaks, chops, etc. for individual servings.
  • Review and validate received orders for amount, quality, count or weight, condition, and ensure all product is stored in appropriate areas.
  • Aid the Department Manager in managing a team that completes all stocking, production, and additional tasks to ensure product quality, production planning, accuracy, and date-sensitive rotation, as well as handle spoiled/damaged products according to established guidelines.
  • Maintain familiarity with all products carried in the department and throughout the store.
  • Communicate and execute the weekly and period Flight Plan to company expectations and timeline.
  • Implement Our Winning Recipe, model core values and competencies, and develop and monitor department forecasts as required.
  • Manage department staffing, training, performance management, and career development of associates.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and timelines using required tools and software to manage scheduling according to forecasted guidelines.
  • Attend and participate in daily huddles, maintain a clean, attractive, and well-stocked department, follow safety guidelines, and take immediate corrective action if not followed.
  • Develop and implement plans to meet company goals and key performance indicators.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent (GED)
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Suggestive selling/knowledge of products preferred
  • Detail-oriented
  • Basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, etc.)

Physical Requirements

  • May be required to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently.
  • Subject to a typical retail store environment (varied temperatures) and exposure to outside weather conditions.
  • Exposure to noise levels in the work environment that are usually low to moderate.
  • Travel requirements vary by assignment.
