Lead Material Handler (FL)
Position Summary
As a Lead Material Handler you'll be responsible for assisting the warehouse supervisor in daily scheduling and follow-up on routine tasks; directing any work-related performance, security, and safety issues directly to the Distribution Manager for review, or disciplinary measures; moving material handlers to various tasks as needed; monitoring workflow; preparing and reviewing reports prior to management approval; training or assigning a trainee to new associates; preparing training documentation.

- Maintains associate training records/files and confidentiality of such
- Aids in the implementation/maintenance of associate incentive programs
- Acts as backup coordinator in the absence of a warehouse supervisor
- Schedules work details, and assigns labor as needed
- Assists supervisors with daily warehouse functions
- Responsible for troubleshooting and facilitating orders and receipts through distribution center
- Interacts with Inventory Control Department on inventory procedures and problems
- Researches orders that checkers cannot confirm
- Works with Warehouse Management on proper Associate Prelude Training and documentation of this training
- Interacts with all warehouses and Benco departments as needed to resolve issues and maintain consistent operations
- Acts as the “go to” person for questions
- Maintains confidentiality of all associate issues and files
- Moves associates as needed to accommodate the workflow and ensure maximum order fulfillment
- Reports any associate issues (production, behavior, tardiness, etc.) directly to warehouse supervisors
- Aids in the implementation and follow-up of any BCI process improvements
- Acts as a mentor to new associates
- Maintains a positive attitude and work ethic, acting as an example for other associates
- Aids warehouse management in achieving all warehouse goals, by proactively offering ideas and suggestions for improvements
- Manages the checking area late in the day (fields questions, retrieves cage items), to ensure that all orders are shipped same day
Requirements

- Education: HS Diploma/GED
- Physical: Able to move/lift 50 lbs. unassisted
- Able to withstand temperatures in a typical warehouse environment
- Position spends 100% amount of time standing, walking, lifting, pulling and pushing
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
