About the role
In this hands-on role, you’ll develop and optimize high-temperature ceramics, fine-tuning processes like injection molding, slip casting, and sintering to push the limits of durability and precision. You’ll lead experiments, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and tackle scale-up challenges helping transform breakthrough materials into production-ready solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and refine advanced ceramic materials and feedstocks for high-performance gas turbine components
- Optimize core manufacturing processes including injection molding, slip casting, debinding, and sintering
- Plan and execute experimental trials to analyze material behavior and improve process outcomes
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to enhance critical-to-work features and overall product performance
- Support pilot builds and small-series production to ensure process stability, dimensional accuracy, and quality compliance
- Drive scale-up and industrialization efforts, solving production challenges while implementing effective root-cause and corrective actions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Ceramics, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline
- 5-8+ years’ hands-on experience with ceramic manufacturing processes like injection molding, casting, forming, and sintering. More years of experience can be considered at a higher level
- Project coordination / management experience in IPT environments
- Expertise in material characterization techniques like microscopy (optical/SEM), thermal analysis (DSC, TGA, DTA), and mechanical testing
- Familiarity with porosity, density measurement, and advanced dimensional inspection methods (e.g., CT or 3D scanning)
- Technology development, pilot production, or scaling processes into industrial manufacturing environments is a plus
- Analytical, detail-oriented problem solver with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering, production, and quality teams
