Lead Master Scheduler (Switching & Fusing) - Leeds, AL
About the Role
Our growing Switching and Fusing location is seeking a Lead Master Scheduler to manage the Production Scheduling team and oversee all activities related to scheduling sales orders and opening work orders for production. This role involves designing production plans, coordinating manufacturing processes, ensuring efficient resource use, and collaborating with internal and external teams to achieve common goals.
Responsibilities
- Order Review & Daily Scheduling: Perform daily review of new orders and 15-block additions to the TOP line schedule. Review past due orders and exception messages to ensure plans are in place and communicate shipment timing.
- Forecasting & Requirements Planning: Review and maintain total requirements in the system to generate forecasts based on the required number of switches to build per day. Analyze prior month PSI, current backlog, and shortfalls to safety stock to determine the next month’s forecast.
- Production Schedule Analysis: Analyze and recommend changes to CPSDs and SCFDs in response to raw material availability, equipment issues, or fluctuations in customer demand that pose risks to OPSDs or previously committed CPSDs. Review and recommend lead time updates based on demonstrated averages.
- Cross-Functional Communication: Host meetings with internal and external teams (allocated customers, commercial groups, etc.) to discuss schedule changes. Provide monthly KPI updates and reporting to the Materials Manager, highlighting shortfalls, schedule attainment results, root cause analysis, and corrective action plans. Update and report on the PowerPoint presentation used for PLR (product line review) report outs.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives or meetings related to the 103 report, OREP, Earned Hours, Accountability, Tier II, and related programs to set priorities and resolve conflicts. Maintain reporting systems to ensure documentation is accurate and timely.
- Master Data & System Accuracy: Review SAP master data and recommend changes or updates related to plant needs or errors identified.
- Team Leadership & Planner Oversight: Manage planners responsible for scheduling work orders to optimize production efficiency and productivity. Provide issue resolution, training, development, coaching, and disciplinary actions as required for the production scheduling team.
- Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties assigned by the Materials Manager related to the Lead Master Scheduler role and management of the production scheduling team.
Requirements
- Strong manufacturing scheduling/planning experience.
- Experience leading planners/schedulers (required).
- Strong SAP/MRP knowledge, specifically with T-Codes in MM (Material Master), WM (Warehouse Management), Planning, and Work Order Scheduling (required).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint (required).
- Proven forecasting and capacity planning expertise.
- Comfort presenting KPIs to leadership.
- Evidence of driving schedule attainment and on-time delivery improvements.
- Strong coaching and team development skills.
- Ability to balance customer requirements with plant constraints and material shortages.
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
