This 1st-shift Lead Manufacturing Technician role operates in controlled environments, including classified clean rooms, and requires strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety standards. No contact lenses are permitted; prescription glasses will be provided. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, and ear plugs is required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate mixers, mills, blenders, pumps, filtration systems, packaging, and laboratory equipment.
  • Weigh, measure, and verify raw materials using a computer interface to ensure accurate batch quantities.
  • Calibrate and operate manual, semi-automated, and automated manufacturing equipment; troubleshoot common failure modes.
  • Follow safe practices, policies, standard operating procedures, and work instructions in GMP environments.
  • Participate in Safety, Quality, and Productivity discussions; assist in project ownership and task execution.
  • Apply departmental knowledge to solve problems and complete complex tasks related to cell culture media manufacturing.
  • Maintain compliance with Quality Management Systems and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for departmental documentation and practices.
  • Co-lead Tier Meetings and act as an SME for processes and documentation.
  • Review daily production schedules, assign work to operators, and complete shift reports.
  • Communicate with incoming/outgoing shifts and help resolve production issues.
  • Support continuous improvement projects and perform related duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Formal training in Lean, 5S, or manufacturing processes is strongly preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in a GMP environment, manufacturing, or related field is required.
  • 4+ years of experience in a fast-paced work environment is strongly preferred.
  • General understanding of technical, mechanical, and machinery equipment.
  • Ability to push, pull, lift, and move up to 50 pounds; stand for extended periods; squat, bend, and reach.
  • Ability to wear all required PPE, including work uniform, steel-toe shoes, hair net, beard guard (if applicable), safety glasses, gloves, bump cap, face shield, and full/half-face respirators.
  • Availability to work overtime and flexible shift patterns.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail for complex instructions and documentation while maintaining quality output.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in completing and training others on multiple processes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to collaborate with support groups to complete project initiatives.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and mechanical aptitude.
  • Comfort operating industrial manufacturing equipment.

Pay

The hourly pay range for this position in New York is $22.10–$36.83. This role may also be eligible for a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance.
