About the role
The Lead Maintenance Technician position at Chewy’s Louisville, KY pharmacy fulfillment center offers an exciting opportunity to support the fast-paced operations of a multifaceted fulfillment center environment. This role involves developing new skills and experience in e-commerce fulfillment operations while applying experience to support the facility.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repair, housekeeping and plumbing, metal fabrication and carpentry to support fast-paced fulfillment center operations.
- Ensure all fulfillment center equipment operates properly and maintain a safe working environment for all Team Members.
- Complete periodic and general maintenance tasks throughout the facility as assigned and according to schedule.
- Perform daily inspections of conveyor systems, shipping, and packing equipment areas.
- Maintain accountability for assigned equipment and associated gear list, reducing loss, damage, and defects to zero.
- Complete repair orders and maintain parts usage records.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems, visually checking, testing, and evaluating the condition of components, equipment, and circuits.
- Follow company procedures.
- Manage a team of up to 10 hourly facilities associates.
- Achieve all facilities goals.
- Primary point of contact for P1/P2 issues.
- Mentor, train, and develop teammates for career progression and learning.
- Create a positive team culture that encourages all employees in the FC to provide feedback and inspire change within the facility, adapt to the ever-evolving business, and stay focused on the customer experience.
- Use the site CMMS system (Fiix) to optimize PM/CM execution and provide insights to improve overall performance.
- Other duties as assigned.

- At least 36 months of previous facility maintenance experience (Mechanics and Maintainers, Construction and Engineering, Aviation and Transportation Repair).
- Must have electrical experience or understanding.
- Able to demonstrate electrical knowledge of 24v ac/dc control circuits, 120v power & control circuits, 77v-480v power circuits.
- Experience using appropriate tools and maintenance equipment.
- Able to stand, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently.
- Manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work at ground level, with the ability to climb and work at elevations up to 35 feet above floor level.
- Interest in math, electricity, shop mechanics, electric motors, and appliances.
- Good at solving problems.
- Understand potential exposure exists to high voltage current, welding equipment, vehicle and equipment lubricants and solvents.
- Able to work nights and weekends.
- Experience with fire system and fire alarm electronic devices.
- Able to read, understand & interpret electrical, pneumatic, & plumbing schematics.
- Experience with conveyor mechanical systems (belts, drives, tracking valves, VFD motor controllers, motor starters and control cabinet PLC knowledge - input/outputs troubleshooting or some programming).
- Proven track record in HVAC - sophisticated knowledge or experience.
- Communicate preventative maintenance and repair opportunities to ensure system performance.
- Can communicate, make sound decisions, and excel under pressure.
- Recognize problems and repair before breakdown occurs.
- Proactive problem-solving and mechanical proficiency skills.
- Able and willing to train others.
