About the role
Devereux California is seeking a Lead Maintenance Specialist to join our team. The position is based on our main campus in Goleta and includes travel to Devereux-occupied homes in the Santa Barbara and Lompoc areas, with a company vehicle provided.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive maintenance duties including carpentry, electrical work, painting, patching/plastering, plumbing, welding, HVAC, lawn care, locksmith work, and general repair work.
- Maintain equipment and tools in proper working condition and ensure proper storage.
- Complete work order documentation accurately and communicate information effectively.
- Ensure a safe working environment by following all regulations and reporting safety concerns immediately.
- Use time and materials efficiently.
- Lead maintenance staff in projects related to areas of technical expertise.
- Acquire proper materials under the direction of a supervisor and identify needs to recommend alternative solutions.
- Complete annual training and maintain up-to-date certifications.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must possess a current, valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record.
- Pass a thorough background check and Livescan fingerprinting.
- Minimum of one year of experience performing semi-skilled maintenance and repair work involving carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, fire alarm, locksmith, mechanics, and general trades.
- One or more years of specialized training preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Significant amounts of standing, walking, sitting, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and hearing.
- Using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Often required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
- Regularly lift/move up to 25 lbs; frequently lift/move up to 50 lbs; occasionally lift/move up to 100 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Occupational Exposure
- Regularly works inside in areas that are adequately lighted and ventilated.
- Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
- Noise level is moderate.
Pay
Compensation is based on experience and certifications, starting at $25/hour and negotiable.
Schedule
Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM; no weekends.
