About the role

This is a Full Time On-Site position at West Star Aviation in Chicago, IL, USA. West Star is a rapidly growing maintenance repair organization dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service through its talented team of employees.

Responsibilities

  • Manage operational quality control tasks and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Review technician assignments and sign-offs to ensure adherence to Roster Authorizations and Repair Station Authorizations.
  • Perform front-line, spot checks of technician maintenance activity to ensure compliance with AMM, RSQCM, and customer guidelines.
  • Run/taxi qualification of techs assigned to run engines / taxi, verify squawk completion, and conduct operational checks.
  • Verify satisfactory squawk completion, engine run/taxi qualification, and tech proficiency.
  • Communicate with tech support and ensure customer MEL procedures are complied with.
  • Perform aircraft final walk-around and release, focusing on areas disturbed during maintenance.
  • Advise customers via email regarding aircraft release from West Star Aviation custody.
  • Ensure appropriate and current technical data is used and that policies and procedures are followed.
  • Tag, inspect, and identify parts/components as per the manual.
  • Verify and carry out distributed customer requests.
  • Monitor and approve tech support involvement, MX Net status, and updates.
  • Perform functions authorized on the Repair Station Roster, reject non-compliant items, and hold release if unsatisfactory conditions are identified.
  • Effectively communicate with customers and colleagues in English.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A High school diploma or equivalent and Airframe and Powerplant License or Repairman Certificate are required.
  • A valid driver's license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.
  • Aircraft specific factory training is preferred.
  • Extensive experience in maintenance, preventive maintenance, or alterations with part 43.
  • Proficient in using various inspection equipment and visual inspection aids.
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment with specific deadlines.
  • Reliable transportation to work every day, including weekends.
  • Ability to follow FAA guidelines and company safety rules.
  • Customer-oriented work habits and ability to direct and supervise team members.
  • Physical requirements include lifting up to 70 lbs, routine walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and working on elevated platforms.

Qualifications

  • Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines.
  • Troubleshooting or evaluating system operation.
  • Working with others in a professional manner.
  • Inputting and retrieving information from computers.
  • Experience with Apple and Microsoft products, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Able to travel to locations, in all weather conditions, to perform repairs.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Proficiency in using inspection equipment and visual aids.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and guideline implementation.

Pay & Schedule

The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $32 - $58. Additional compensation in the form of a shift differential will be provided if the employee is assigned to an alternate shift.
