Lead Lifeguard-Chilson/Winona - Seasonal

Essential Functions

• Enhances the Recreation Department image and ensures a quality visit to aquatics area.
• Safeguards all swim areas and enforces rules and safety regulations.
• Maintains a safe environment by communicating with and taking direction from aquatics supervisory personnel.
• Monitors weather conditions and works with supervisory personnel concerning unsafe conditions.
• Completes required daily paperwork.
• Affords assistance with comprehensive swim lesson programs, if applicable.
• Responds effectively to emergency situations and performs lifesaving procedures.
• Establishes and maintains a good public relations image with guests through communications, positive interactions, and consistent enforcement of all policies and procedures.
• Disseminates and promotes Parks and Recreation program information and directs guests to proper locations.
• Solves administrative concerns by applying appropriate policies, procedures, and interactions with staff and guests.

Other Job Functions

• May be required to cross-train in other areas.
• Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings and in-service trainings.
• May be required to oversee facility when supervisory personnel are absent.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience

• 1 year lifeguarding experience required.
• 1 year customer service-related experience required.
• Must be 17 years of age at the time of hire.

Experience and Certifications

• Current Lifeguard Certification, CPR, AED and First Aid certification required.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

• Frequent standing or walking or maintaining arms and hands in the same position for repetitive tasks.
• Frequent use of light or medium weight objects (e.g., 25-50 lbs) and use of medium weight tools.
• Minimal physical effort typically found in clerical work.
• Primarily sedentary, may occasionally lift and carry light objects.
• Frequent use of light to medium physical effort that includes working from ladders in awkward positions.
• Occasional moderate to considerable physical effort that includes working from ladders in awkward positions.
• Frequent use of heavy objects (e.g., 50+ pounds) and may also use heavy tools or require strenuous application in awkward positions.
• Frequent exposure to heat and noise along with working outside in the elements.
• Occasional exposure to hazards that are predictable or well protected against.
• Exposure to routine office noise and equipment.
• Exposure to hazards typically found in general office environments where there is rarely to no exposure to injury or accident.
• Exposure to marginal to moderate conditions that are unpredictable and may lead to injury.
• Exposure to hazardous conditions that may lead to workplace injury such as working in heights, exposure to fly ash and/or energized electrical equipment.

Non-Benefit Eligible Benefits Package
