About the role

This associate assumes technical responsibility for a clinical section of the laboratory. They are responsible for ensuring that all people working in the department are properly trained and competent, and that the department meets all regulatory requirements. They work in close contact with the Clinical Lab Manager in the day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a resource and provides technical advice to physicians, nursing, and laboratory associates in clinical laboratory procedures.
  • Actively participates in and maintains survey readiness at all times.
  • Troubleshoots and displays a leadership role in the absence of the POC, manager, and director.
  • Effectively performs, documents, and reviews QA activities following SOP.
  • Communicates with lab leadership on concerns affecting lab operations, quality, and errors.
  • Monitors performance of PT surveys in the department section and provides corrective action and education when needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Lab Science required.
  • 2 years of experience in the department for which they will be responsible.
  • Must be able to demonstrate competency in the area.
  • Registered by the American Society for Clinical Pathology or an equivalent registry preferred.
  • Advanced CPI for FED staff only is required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
