About the role
As a Lead Lab Technician, you will take on a pivotal role in overseeing and maintaining quality standards across our laboratory operations. Your responsibilities extend beyond standard testing and analysis to include equipment calibrations, ensuring accurate test methods, and managing the team's daily activities. Your meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality will be crucial as you review data, assess lab logs, and make decisions on testing procedures and escalations.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of product tests to ensure compliance with customer and company quality requirements.
- Gather samples and prepare them according to listed specifications for testing.
- Carry out physical and mechanical tests on samples and enter test data results accurately into the designated systems.
- Operate laboratory equipment necessary to support testing needs.
- Provide feedback to production, process engineering, and quality engineering teams.
- Collaborate with other departments such as planning, production, engineering, customer service, and shipping to ensure effective communication and timely delivery of materials and product development information.
- Take proactive measures to prevent nonconformance in product, process, and quality systems.
- Communicate with management regarding significant risks to product quality, employee safety, or customer satisfaction.
- Work within gage calibration software to maintain the calibration process.
- Provide training and leadership to new or more junior technicians.
- Maintain and manage all required third party laboratory certifications.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area, following safety protocols and using required PPE.
- Cook up testing priorities for all laboratory personnel.
- Perform Measurement System Analysis (MSA) testing as requested to ensure consistent quality of the manufacturing process and accuracy of the test measurement readings collected.
- Create and send Certificates of Analysis (COA) as needed to verify product quality, safety, and compliance.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working in a testing laboratory environment.
- Ability to work well both independently and with others.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English to interpret setup sheets, SOPs, and communicate effectively.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
- Basic computer and data entry skills.
- Comfortable with physical requirements such as standing, bending, and occasionally lifting.
