Lead Java Developer :: Onsite in Columbus, OH

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Java Integration Engineer to join a team building and supporting modern, scalable applications and integration services. This role combines hands-on Java development, REST APIs, microservices, cloud technologies, and enterprise integration. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in an Agile environment, can troubleshoot complex technical issues, and can work closely with engineering, business, and operational teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java/J2EE applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices.
• Build and consume RESTful Web Services/APIs using JAX-RS and maintain API documentation with Swagger/OpenAPI.
• Develop and support enterprise integrations using IBM DataPower, IBM Integration Bus (IIB)/ACE, and IBM MQ/WebSphere.
• Work with Oracle and DB2 databases, including SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers.
• Implement authentication and authorization using JWT and support secure API integrations.
• Troubleshoot, debug, test, and improve application performance and reliability.
• Work with CI/CD and build tools, including Jenkins, Git, SVN/CSV, and Maven.
• Develop and deploy applications using GCP, with hands-on exposure to Cloud Run, Terraform, BigQuery, and Big Data technologies.
• Apply strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and Object-Oriented Design to build efficient solutions.
• Collaborate with business and operational partners and help guide other developers on technical solutions and delivery.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, with strong hands-on Java experience.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, J2EE, and Web Services.
• 3+ years of experience leading or mentoring development team members and working with business/operations partners.
• 5+ years of experience with IBM DataPower and IBM IIB/ACE, particularly backend and Web/REST service development.
• Experience with IBM MQ/WebSphere.
• Strong SQL and relational database experience, preferably Oracle and/or DB2.
• Experience with Jenkins, Git, Maven, Kubernetes, and CI/CD practices.
• Hands-on experience with GCP, especially Cloud Run, Terraform, and BigQuery.
• Experience with Swagger/API testing tools and secure API development using JWT.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum/Kanban environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and business stakeholders.
