Lead Janitorial Crew Member

Schedule

Part-time up to 30 hours per week, including some holiday work depending on contract needs. Hours of operation are Monday–Friday, 5:00 pm–11:00 pm.

About the role

Perform general cleaning tasks and maintain work areas as assigned. Provide indirect supervision of janitorial crew as needed.

Responsibilities

• Use high- and low-speed maintenance equipment as assigned
• Use carpet cleaning equipment as assigned
• Trash removal
• Sweep, mop, dust, and vacuum as assigned
• Perform restroom disinfecting and cleaning as assigned
• Wash windows
• Monitor use of equipment and report any malfunctions or problems to supervisor
• Practice “Safety First”

Qualifications

• Experience in janitorial work preferred
• Supervisory experience preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance
• Must be capable of moving up and down stairs without difficulty
• Must be capable of working on feet for extended periods of time
• Must provide own transportation to work
• Must be able to read and identify MSDS sheets and various chemical labels and markings
• Must be willing to learn proper use of cleaning agents and usage of various supplies
• Must be willing to learn proper maintenance and safety features of light custodial equipment
• Must undergo a criminal background check
• Authorized to work in the United States

Work Environment

This position operates in all areas of the Jefferson County Office Building, Human Services Building, and Old Courthouse.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, lift, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Work may require lifting, pushing, or pulling in excess of 50 pounds.
