About the role

As the Lead Intraoperative Monitoring (IONM) Technologist, you will provide technical and administrative guidance, training, and clinical coordination for all IONM services within surgical services. You will contribute to the oversight of 24/7 coverage across all service areas, ensuring high-quality patient care and team support.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all employees in the intraoperative monitoring division, including staff scheduling, payroll submission, and leave requests.
  • Assign staff to cover all modalities of IONM testing in consultation with the Manager.
  • Interview potential employees and provide hiring recommendations.
  • Coordinate and provide orientation for new staff members.
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership in surgical areas to educate staff as needed.
  • Assist in developing employment standards for quality metrics and technical guidelines.
  • Identify and coordinate training and development opportunities for team members and clinical staff.
  • Provide support to team members during surgical cases.
  • Develop and maintain monthly statistics for adult and pediatric cases.
  • Perform IONM technologist procedures as needed to support division demands, ensuring accuracy in patient testing and differentiation of brain signals from background noise.
  • Verify tracings for accuracy and adherence to standard protocols to eliminate artifacts.
  • Serve as a liaison between Neurosurgery and other hospital departments.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues with vendors and recommend budget requirements for service line efficiency.
  • Perform and mentor procedures such as EEG, EMG, SSEP, MEP, BAEP, and other applicable testing.
  • Follow all department protocols and adhere to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
  • Complete other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), or equivalent programs.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in intraoperative monitoring or other neurodiagnostic-related fields such as EEG or EMG.
  • Experience in Electroencephalography (EEG), Electromyography (EMG), Somatosensory Evoked Potentials (SSEP), Motor Evoked Potentials (MEP), and Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potentials (BAEP).
  • Strong attention to detail, clinical judgment, and ability to communicate clearly under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Formal training in neuromonitoring, neurodiagnostics, or a related biomedical field.
  • Registration in CNIM (Certified Neurological Intraoperative Monitoring Technologist), R.EEGT (EEG Technologist), or R.EPT (Evoked Potentials Technologist) or 10 years of relevant experience.

Pay

Minimum starting rate of $44.30 per hour. The posted rate is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role and may vary based on factors such as labor market data, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, budget, and grant funding. Some positions may also be eligible for shift differentials, performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions.
